Elke Kaschl-Mohni

Regional Director South-West Europe, Goethe-Institut Brussels

Dr. Elke Kaschl-Mohni is the head of the Goethe-Insitut Brussels, the Goethe-Institut’s Representative to the EU and Regional Director of the Goethe-Institut for Southwest Europe since 2019. Previously, she was head of the Goethe-Institut Cairo for five years and regional director for the North Africa / Middle East region. She has been with the Goethe-Institut, holding the position as Head of Strategy in headquarters in Munich and directing the institutes in Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi. She graduated from the University of Berne, Switzerland, with a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies and holds an MA in Contemporary Arab Studies from Georgetown University, Washington DC.

Executive Director of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture - AFAC

Rima was appointed Executive Director of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture – AFAC in 2016 building on her extensive experience as AFAC Deputy Director. Rima completed her studies in Communication Arts (Radio/TV/Film) at the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Beirut in 1998. Prior graduation, she began writing for local newspapers and cultural supplements, focusing on cinema and pursuing her professional career as a film critic as of 1999. She had participated in several festivals as jury member or as a member of the selection committee, contributed to serious critical writings on Arab cinema, moderated panels and wrote for several regional media. She worked briefly in television, writing and producing several episodes of “The Arabic Lens” (Al Adasa Al Arabiya). She also wrote and researched a number of feature documentaries produced by and broadcasted on Al-Arabiya channel. Rima has joined AFAC in 2011 as Film Programs Manager and in 2015 was appointed Deputy Director
Anaïs Fontanel

Anaïs Fontanel

Head of the European Partnerships Division - Institut français

Since 2014, Anaïs Fontanel is in charge of the European partnerships Division at the Institut français Paris.  In 2009, she started working at Culturesfrance an association in charge of promoting French culture worldwide, which later evolved into the Institut français. She then took part in the creation of the “Training” department, which provides the staff of the French cultural network abroad with training programmes, before participating in the creation and definition of a specifically European strategy for the Institut français.

Dea Vidovic

Dea Vidovic

Director of Kultura Nova Foundation

Dea Vidović is Director of Kultura Nova Foundation (Croatia), a public foundation dedicated to civil society organizations in contemporary arts and culture in Croatia. She graduated in Comparative Literature and Indian Studies and earned a PhD in 2012 from the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. For more than fifteen years of her professional engagement in culture, she worked as a manager, editor, journalist and researcher. Her professional trajectory was built on numerous collaborations with institutions on local, national and international levels. The academic aspect of her professional engagement has been developing through regular publishing and editing of both scientific and expert books, papers and articles on contemporary cultural practices, as well as through delivering of lectures and presentations at various discursive events. She is an ENCATC Board member as well as Steering Committee member of EFC Arts and Culture Thematic Network.

Eva van de Rakt

Eva van de Rakt

Director, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union, Brussels

Eva van de Rakt has worked for the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung since 2001. At present, she is Director of the Foundation’s European Union office in Brussels. As Director of the Prague office she was responsible for the Foundation’s activities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary from 2004 until 2018. Her expertise and focus areas include the future of the European Union and European politics, the prospects of the socio-ecological transformation as well as the protection and promotion of democracy, human rights and gender equality. She has been a member of the Board of Directors at the Czech-German Fund for the Future (Deutsch-Tschechischer Zukunftsfonds) since 2018, and is a member of the General Assembly of the Green European Foundation. After her studies at the University of Music and Theatre in Rotterdam, Eva van de Rakt taught contemporary dance at the Duncan Centre Conservatory in Prague and was involved in several international dance and film projects from 1997 until 2001.
